Ok, so while I was writing today’s earlier blog post, a letter was being delivered to our cabins. I’ve reproduced it below, I hope you can read it. The captain has also explained the situation, and of course they are very apologetic, but in a nutshell, I’ll be back in Liverpool next Monday.

There were covid problems among some of the crew before we boarded, and all the crew (and we) have to carry electronic proximity sensors all the time and if the sensor records that you have been in the proximity of someone who tests positive you have to spend time in isolation. Everyone gets tested the day before arriving at a port. So there are lots of crew members isolating and we heard that a couple of passengers tested positive yesterday, so they and their contacts will now be in isolation.

They put on a party around the swimming pool this evening with a good live band and free cocktails (as many as you wanted), and we did a conga all around the deck. Everyone’s happy in true British spirit.
