Today I had a boat trip along waterways that are part of a large delta that feeds the River Plate.

Our journey started on the Rio Tigre (red dot on the map).
This area is sometimes referred to as “The Venice of South America” due to the network of navigable rivers and canals, and the assortment of houses, shops and restaurants that have developed along the river banks.
The properties can only be reached by using the waterways and, as well as the resident’s boats, the traffic includes traders, taxis and tourists, most of which drive very fast:

We passed a very old house of historical importance. It has been preserved by total enclosure in a glass box:

We were informed that a decent property could be obtained for as low as $40,000, but running costs, especially maintenance, made it an expensive place to live.

We stopped at a waterway restaurant for lunch and enjoyed a steak which was nearly as good as the one the previous night:

Now we leave Argentina and sail overnight to Punta Del Este in Uruguay.
