Punta Del Este, our third and final port of call in the River Plate estuary, is a pleasant seaside resort, lined with cafes and bars backed with high rise apartment blocks. It is apparently famed for it’s beach statue of four gigantic fingers and a thumb sticking out of the sand.
I joined up with the “Top Table” quiz team to travel ashore.
It was a lovely day, very hot and Ideal for a swim.

After refreshments at the El Sacreto, we found a shady spot on the beach, under the boardwalk, and went for a swim. Perfect!

Travelling light, I didn’t have my camera so that’s all the images. Also we didn’t get to see the ‘fingers’ statue, but it was a nice swim with good company.
Now we sail for Ilhaballa, our first port in Brazil.
