Cruise 2023 – South America

Thu 16th Mar 2023: Cape Verde

It took four days to cross the Atlantic, but it was full speed ahead in order to make up the six hours lost due to the medical emergency. We arrived at the port of Mindelo in Cape Verde as planned on Thursday Morning.

Tuesday’s equatorial crossing celebrations included members of the crew being tried and convicted for their deadly sins by King Neptune and punished in the normal watery way.

The captain didn’t seem to mind, in fact I think he enjoyed it.

At Mindelo we joined a convoy of 4×4 pick-up trucks for an off-road tour of the island.

We visited two isolated beaches:

And saw evidence of the island’s volcanic history:

We left Cape Verde as the sun was setting on route to our last port of call, Tenerife.
