Cruise 2025 – Around the World

21st Jan 2025 – Sugarloaf Sunset

The temperature reached 37 degrees that day but our guide for the evening felt it was comfortable after last year when they had a month when the temperature didn’t fall below 40 degrees!

We were on our way to watch the sunset from the top of Sugarloaf Mountain.

The picture below shows the summit on the right, and the two cable car stages needed to reach it.

Below is that famous beach, featured in the song The Girl From Ipanema.

As darkness fell the city lights gradually appeared.

A Solitary Star (or Perhaps a Planet)

We were completely surrounded by breath-taking views, an experience I will never forget.

We arrived back at the ship in time to grab a late meal and a beer.

I’ve been enjoying late-night sessions by the piano, singing along with an exceptional singer and pianist who has an incredible repertoire. However, after such a long and intense day, I traded my seat at the piano for an early night. After all, the next day I would be trekking through a Brazilian rainforest.
